Garmin Releases Beta Software Update 13.09 for Vivoactive 5, Venu 3, and Venu 3S Smartwatches

Garmin has announced the rollout of beta software update version 13.09 for its popular Vivoactive 5, Venu 3, and Venu 3S smartwatch models. This update introduces a range of enhancements, focusing on improved connectivity, training plan enrichment, and expanded compatibility with the Connect IQ ecosystem.

Change log:

  •  Adds connection type information for paired sensors.
  • Improvements to Garmin Run Coach and Garmin Cycling Coach plans to include supplemental strength workouts.
  • Supports the latest Connect IQ apps, watch faces, and data fields.

One of the notable additions in this update is the inclusion of connection type information for paired sensors. Users will now have the ability to easily identify the connection protocol being utilized by their paired sensors, whether it be Bluetooth or ANT+. This added visibility provides a more granular understanding of sensor connectivity and could aid in troubleshooting or optimizing performance. This feature is expected to be particularly beneficial for athletes and fitness enthusiasts who rely on a variety of external sensors during their workouts.

Garmin continues to refine its training programs, and version 13.09 brings improvements to both the Garmin Run Coach and Garmin Cycling Coach plans. The update bolsters these adaptive training plans by incorporating supplemental strength workouts. This integration of strength training is designed to provide a more well-rounded fitness regimen, complementing running and cycling activities. Users can now expect a more comprehensive approach to training, aiming to improve overall fitness and performance.

Beyond training enhancements, Garmin is also strengthening its commitment to the Connect IQ platform. This beta update ensures compatibility with the latest Connect IQ apps, watch faces, and data fields. This means users can access a wider array of customization options and functionalities, further personalizing their smartwatch experience. The ongoing support for Connect IQ underscores Garmin’s dedication to providing a versatile and expandable smartwatch platform.

The beta software update 13.09 is currently being rolled out to eligible Vivoactive 5, Venu 3, and Venu 3S devices. Users can initiate the update process directly on their smartwatch by navigating to the main menu, then selecting Settings > System > Software Update. As this is a beta release, users should be aware that they may encounter unforeseen issues and are encouraged to provide feedback to Garmin regarding their experience with the new software. Garmin typically uses beta feedback to refine and finalize software updates before a full public release.
