Garmin Rolls Out First Stable Update 6.29 for Instinct 3 Series

Garmin has released its first stable software update, version 6.29, for its Instinct 3 AMOLED and Instinct 3 Solar smartwatches. The update, now available to all users, aims to address a range of bugs and improve overall performance. This marks a significant step in refining the user experience for owners of these rugged outdoor watches.

Addressing Key Issues with Garmin Share

A primary focus of the 6.29 update is resolving issues surrounding Garmin Share. Both the Instinct 3 AMOLED and Solar versions received fixes for the “Share Again” option, which was reportedly malfunctioning. Furthermore, the update tackles potential crashes that could occur while using the Garmin Share feature, ensuring smoother sharing of activities and data.

Enhancements for the Instinct 3 Solar

The Instinct 3 Solar, with its unique solar charging capabilities, receives several targeted improvements. The update specifically addresses issues with the solar intensity icon, providing users with a more accurate representation of solar charging performance. Problems related to solar charging itself have also been resolved, optimizing the watch’s ability to harness solar power. Additionally, users should see improvements in the Messenger app, with fixes implemented for group messaging functionality. Finally, the update tackles potential issues that might have prevented Connect IQ (CIQ) apps and glances from opening, expanding the watch’s functionality.

Performance Improvements Across the Board

Beyond the specific fixes for Garmin Share and solar functionality, the 6.29 update brings a number of general performance enhancements to both the Instinct 3 AMOLED and Solar models. This includes resolving a potentially frustrating issue with the Auto Update setting, ensuring that the watches receive timely updates. The update also tackles potential crashes that could occur during activities or while navigating a course, leading to a more reliable and stable user experience. Another fix addresses potential spikes in course elevation data, providing more accurate readings for outdoor enthusiasts.

Messenger App and CIQ App Fixes

In addition to the solar-specific improvements, the Instinct 3 Solar also benefits from fixes related to the Messenger app, specifically addressing issues with group messages. This should enhance communication capabilities for users who rely on the watch for staying connected. Both models also see fixes for potential issues that could prevent CIQ apps and glances from opening, expanding the watch’s functionality and customizability.

Update Availability

The 6.36 update is rolling out now and is available to all Garmin Instinct 3 AMOLED and Instinct 3 Solar users. Users are encouraged to update their devices to take advantage of these improvements and bug fixes. Garmin typically pushes updates automatically, but users can also manually check for updates through the Garmin Connect app or by syncing their watch with Garmin Express on a computer. This update demonstrates Garmin’s commitment to improving its products and responding to user feedback.
