Garmin rolls out new beta software update 15.17 for Fenix 8 and Enduro 3 models

Garmin has just released a new beta software update, version 15.17, designed to refine the user experience on its premium smartwatch lines, specifically the Fenix 8, Fenix E, and Enduro 3. This update introduces several notable improvements, focusing on health tracking, usability, and stability.

Note: The Beta software available for the Fenix 8 series will disable the ECG and Dive features.

Enhanced Health Metrics: Breathing Variations Now Tracked

One of the key additions is the introduction of Breathing Variations Support. This feature allows users to gain deeper insights into their respiratory patterns, providing valuable data for overall wellness monitoring. By tracking changes in breathing rate, users can identify potential stress or recovery indicators, further leveraging their Garmin smartwatch for comprehensive health analysis.

Golfers Rejoice: Enhanced Notification Visibility

For avid golfers, Garmin has implemented a practical enhancement: Golf Notifications now wake the display. This ensures that crucial information, such as distances and hazards, is immediately visible, eliminating the need to manually activate the screen. This improvement prioritizes readability and convenience during gameplay, allowing golfers to stay focused on their performance.

Stability Improvements: Addressing Memory Issues on Maps

A critical fix included in this update addresses a potential out-of-memory issue on the map page. This improvement enhances the stability and reliability of the navigation features, ensuring smoother map interactions and preventing unexpected crashes or slowdowns. Users can now confidently rely on their Garmin smartwatch for accurate and seamless navigation, particularly during outdoor activities.

Streamlined Music Control: Refined Layout

The page layout for the music player when controlling a phone has been improved. This redesign focuses on enhancing user experience by providing a more intuitive and visually appealing interface. Users can now effortlessly manage their music playback directly from their smartwatch, with a cleaner and more organized layout.

Navigation Clarity: Enhanced Directional Arrows

Finally, the update includes an improved sizing of directional arrows on the map. This adjustment aims to enhance visibility and clarity during navigation. Larger, more prominent arrows ensure that users can easily follow directions, reducing the risk of missed turns and improving overall navigation accuracy.

Updating Your Device: A Seamless Process

To take advantage of these new features and improvements, users can download the update via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. The process is straightforward: simply navigate to Menu -> System -> Software Update -> Check For Updates on your Garmin smartwatch. This ensures a hassle-free update, allowing users to quickly benefit from the latest enhancements.
