Garmin has released beta version 27.76 for its Fenix 6 and Marq smartwatch series. This incremental update primarily focuses on addressing a critical bug that caused some devices to unexpectedly shut down during the “Track” activity. While this fix is a welcome development, its availability is currently limited to a select group of beta testers.
Following closely on the heels of beta version 27.74, this latest release continues the 27.xx testing cycle. Notably, the update log highlights a single, yet significant, bug fix. Garmin engineers have successfully mitigated an issue where the smartwatch would abruptly power off while users attempted to save data from the “Track” activity. This issue, however, appears to have been isolated to the “Track” activity, leaving other workout modes unaffected.
This latest bug fix adds to a series of improvements implemented in earlier 27.xx beta versions for the Fenix 6 series. These prior updates addressed a range of issues, including course navigation problems, slow-loading notifications, and an erratic elevation alert tone.
For those enrolled in the Garmin beta program, the update to version 27.76 can be initiated by navigating to Main Menu > System > Software Update > Check for Updates. However, the release timeframe for a stable, general release of this update for all Fenix 6 and Marq users remains uncertain.
