Garmin announced the launch of the HRM-200, a new chest strap heart rate monitor designed to succeed its popular HRM-Dual model. While maintaining a focus on accurate heart rate data, the HRM-200 incorporates key security enhancements in line with evolving European Union regulations.
Key Features and Improvements
The HRM-200 boasts several advancements over its predecessor. It offers both encrypted and unencrypted modes for heart rate data transmission via ANT+ and Bluetooth Smart. The improved pod design features an LED indicator and a dedicated button for easy mode switching.
The HRM-200 also incorporates a redesigned battery compartment that meets child safety standards and includes a built-in tool for convenient battery swaps. It supports unlimited concurrent ANT+ connections and up to three simultaneous Bluetooth connections. Available in two sizes (XS-S and M-XL) to accommodate a wide range of users, the HRM-200 is water resistant (rated at 3ATM) for use during various activities.
Value Proposition
The Garmin HRM-200 offers a compelling value proposition for athletes and fitness enthusiasts who prioritize accurate heart rate tracking. While it may not include advanced features like running dynamics or offline data storage found in higher-end models like the HRM-PRO Plus and HRM-FIT, its focus on security, user-friendliness, and affordability makes it a strong contender in the market.
Availability and Pricing
The Garmin HRM-200 is available for purchase now at a suggested retail price of $79 USD.
