Beta 13.21: A Deep Dive into the Changes

Version 13.21 brings several noteworthy enhancements. Music lovers will appreciate the new progress bar on the music selection list, providing better control and feedback. Expanding its global reach, Garmin has added support for both German and Spanish QWERTY keyboard layouts, catering to a wider user base.

The update also addresses a number of bugs, ensuring smoother operation. These fixes include resolving blank sensor search results, eliminating duplicate smart notification images, and restoring emergency tones that were previously suppressed.

Addressing Key Issues and Refining User Interface

Garmin’s focus on refinement is evident in the numerous fixes included in this beta. The update corrects an invalid first-time tip for the weather map page, restores missing dialpad buttons, and ensures that icons for third-party sensors are correctly displayed. Issues with the pinned activity button during active sessions have also been resolved.

To further enhance stability, Garmin has addressed potential crashes stemming from audio prompts and improved text padding on Body Battery tip pages. The update also eliminates an unnecessary elevation calibration prompt within apps and ensures the default keyboard is pushed correctly. Finally, the QWERTY keyboard layout has been optimized for smaller screens, improving usability on compact devices.

Important Considerations Before Updating

Users interested in trying out the beta can manually download it directly on their devices. The update process involves navigating to the main menu, then selecting Settings > System > Software Update > Check For Updates. However, Garmin has issued a crucial caveat: installing the Beta 13.21 software will temporarily disable the ECG and dive features on affected devices. This is a vital point for users who rely on these functionalities.
