Garmin releases new beta update 20.19 for Fenix 7, Epix 2, Enduro 2, Quatix 7, and Marq Gen 2

Garmin has rolled out beta software update version 20.19 to a selection of its high-performance smartwatches, including the Fenix 7 series, Epix 2 series, Quarix 7, Enduro 2, and Marq Gen 2. This update, now fully deployed to eligible devices, focuses on refining activity tracking capabilities and resolving reported software glitches. The company is encouraging users to participate in the beta program to help further optimize the user experience.

Change Log For version 20.19 since v20.16

  • Fixed crash on jump rope activities.
  • Fixed possible crashes during long activities.

The 20.19 beta update directly tackles two key issues impacting users’ activity recordings. Firstly, the update implements a fix for a crash that some users encountered while tracking jump rope activities. This issue prevented accurate data capture during these workouts, hindering users’ ability to monitor their progress.

Secondly, Garmin has addressed a potential crash that could occur during long-duration activities. This bug was particularly problematic for endurance athletes and outdoor adventurers who rely on their Garmin devices for extended tracking, potentially leading to data loss and frustration. By resolving these crashes, Garmin aims to ensure a more reliable and consistent experience for athletes of all disciplines.

The update process has been designed for user convenience, leveraging over-the-air (OTA) technology. Instead of requiring users to connect their devices to a computer and manually install files, the 20.19 beta update can be downloaded and installed directly through the smartwatch via Wi-Fi.

This streamlined approach simplifies the update process and encourages wider adoption. To initiate the update, users should navigate to the “Menu” section on their watch, then select “System,” followed by “Software Update,” and finally, “Check For Updates.” The watch will then automatically connect via Wi-Fi to Garmin’s servers, download the latest software, and guide the user through the installation process.
