Garmin rolls out new software update 28.00 for Fenix 6 Series, Enduro, and related smartwatches

Garmin has unleashed a fresh wave of enhancements for its popular Fenix 6 series, Enduro, Quatix, and MARQ Aviator smartwatches, rolling out software version 28.00. This update, currently designated as a Release Candidate, brings a mix of refinements and bug fixes aimed at optimizing user experience.

Change Log:

  • Added a legal disclaimer tip message to the storm alert feature.
  • Fixed a UI issue on the flight paths setup feature for MARQ Aviator.
  • Fixed an issue where the elevation alert would constantly tone.
  • Fixed an issue where notifications would sometimes be slow to pop up.
  • Fixed an issue where loading certain courses would cause the device to shut down.
  • Miscellaneous bug fixes and improvements.
  • CIQ bug fixes and improvements.

One notable addition is a legal disclaimer within the storm alert feature, a move likely aimed at clarifying the limitations of the feature and ensuring user awareness of potential risks associated with weather information.

For aviation enthusiasts using the MARQ Aviator, a UI glitch affecting flight path setup has been resolved. Users plagued by persistent elevation alert tones can breathe a sigh of relief, as this issue has been addressed. The update also tackles a frustrating lag in notification delivery, promising snappier alerts. Furthermore, Garmin has squashed a bug that caused device shutdowns when loading specific courses, paving the way for smoother navigation.

Beyond these specific fixes, version 28.00 incorporates a range of miscellaneous bug fixes and performance improvements, contributing to a more polished and reliable experience. Developers utilizing the Connect IQ platform will also benefit from a series of targeted bug fixes and enhancements.

This update is readily available via the “Check For Updates” function on compatible watches. Users can initiate the update process by navigating to Menu -> System -> Software Update -> Check For Updates. The update can be conveniently downloaded over Wi-Fi.

It’s important to note that version 28.00 is currently a Release Candidate. This designation signifies that if no significant issues are uncovered during this testing phase, this very version will be pushed out as the official public update. Garmin assures users that all installations of version 28.00, whether as a Release Candidate or the subsequent public release, will be functionally identical. So, whether you jump on the update now or wait for the official launch, you’ll receive the same set of improvements.
