Garmin is rolling out a new beta software update, version 14.05, to a select group of its smartwatch users. The company’s notes indicate this update focuses on resolving issues found in the Morning Report and the Garmin Coach glance features. Owners of the Venu 3, Venu 3s, and vivoactive 5 smartwatches are the first in line to potentially receive this test software.
Tackling Morning Quirks and Training Glitches
Garmin’s actively pushing out this beta, marking the second step in their 14.xx testing phase. This follows their stable 13.19 release back in March, which gave Android users a smoother ride with the Voice Assistant. Now, beta 14.05 is zeroing in on a visual hiccup in the much-loved Morning Report, where some images weren’t showing up right. It’s also squashing a bug that kept workouts from refreshing properly when accessed through the Garmin Coach glance. The official notes also hint at other smaller fixes and tweaks, though they’re keeping those cards close to their chest for now.
Lock Screen Mystery Lingers
One thing that’s still up in the air is whether this update addresses a recently flagged issue with the lock screen. Over on the Garmin forums, a few users reported that an older beta version was causing their screens to go completely dark when locked, instead of showing the usual lock icon. A Garmin team member did acknowledge this, but there hasn’t been any official word on a fix in this new beta release just yet.
Get Your Hands on the Beta
Got a Venu 3, Venu 3s, or a vivoactive 5? You can snag this beta update by diving into your watch’s Main Menu, then heading to Settings > System > Software Update. Just a heads-up for Venu 3 users: as is their standard practice during beta testing, the ECG feature will be temporarily off-limits.
